If you take a closer look at your Windows partition, you may find that you have less free space and you will end up asking yourself "what happened to all that disk space?" Temporary files, cache and other non critical files will do that. If you do not perform a routine cleanup task, they will pile up on the Windows partition until you receive pop up notifications that you are running low on disk space. Mars WinCleaner will erase all junk files on your hard drive or certain types of files, according to your own selection.

The software comes in a very small package (less than one Mb) and it can be installed rapidly. During the setup process, you can select a normal, full or custom installation. A full installation means that you will also add shortcuts in the Start menu, on your desktop, programs groups and so on. There are no configurations to make after the installation is complete, so you can run the program right away.

Most cleanup utilities feature the same type of interface, organized in different sections, with navigation buttons on its left side. This is not the case with Mars WinCleaner. It will not make you run around, through different pages. You only need to select what type of files to erase by clicking the check boxes on the program's compact interface and hitting the Clean button, in the lower left corner.

Spotting a particular item is easy, because the file categories are organized in different boxes on the interface. You may target the recent files history, various types of temporary files, application logs, cookies, cache and browsing data created by Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other web browsers. You can also choose what action to perform after the cleanup process, schedule automatic cleanups every few hours, every day, weekly or monthly. Basically, everything you can do in other similar utilities can be done from this small window.

When targeting junk files, you can bring up a separate window, where you may target temporary files created by other third party software or data from the Windows Registry. Some advanced knowledge is needed when using the second feature, because you may delete the wrong registry keys. If you do not have time or patience to select what files to delete, you can choose a preset from a drop menu, in the upper left corner of the interface. You may select a preset for no files, temporary files only, temporary files plus Internet Explorer cache and more.
